Swedish Cargo Direct
Up to 2005, all airports in the LFV Group marketed, sold and handled their own cargo business. This could sometimes cause problems since several airports within the same airport group could work towards the same customers a fragmented view of the Swedish air cargo market. Therefore, The LFV Group decided to remedy this by creating a central function that would market, sell and develop the air cargo business of all its airports. This was done in 2005 when LFV created a new function within the aviation marketing department, a central Director of Business development air cargo.
It was a successful move that was enhanced by creating a new communication platform, "Swedish Cargo Direct" within the LFV Group dedicated to developing business with their customers by offering free consulting.
The company reasoned like this: if they can show an airline how the air cargo market and the inner workings of the Scandinavian market look like, add the possibilities of one-stop-shopping, and give the airline access to key actors in the market such as forwarding agents and shippers, then they could create a win-win situation for all involved!
The whole concept also works well in business development - they look for business opportunities, build business cases and present and discuss them with suitable airlines.
Everything is based upon in-depth knowledge of their market and its opportunities, which Swedish Cargo Direct effectively conveys to present and potential airline customers.
