European Helicopter Association (EHA)
The EHA will not approach any national government body as a pressure group. Instead it encourages each member country to set up a national helicopter association (or to have a major helicopter operator as a national coordinator) which will work with its own national authority towards acceptance of EHA’s policies.
In this way, it is hoped to remove the legislative anomalies and to achieve a realistic degree of freedom, while fully acknowledging safety and environmental issues.
There are now 15 European countries who are voting members in the council of management. They are listed opposite. The EHA has its own independent secretariat and it is funded entirely by member subscriptions.
The association have established a strong relationship with the European Joint Aviation Authorities (JAA) and with the newly formed European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).
The JAA and EASA are recognizing and accepting the EHA as the sole representative of the European helicopter operators. EHA participates fully in the various JAA committees, and will do so in future EASA committees.
There is a good working relationship between the EHA and the European Helicopter Operators Committee (EHOC), the European HEMS and Air Ambulance Committee (EHAC) and aerospace giant EADS (European Aeronautic Defence and Space company).
The EHA has a very good working relationship with HAl and has further contacts with associations in Australia, Canada, South Africa etc. The EHA has five standing committees: onshore, offshore, technical, HEMS and performance.
EHA’s objectives:
- Public acceptance of the helicopter
- Standardisation of realistic operational
regulations in Europe
- Standardisation of airworthiness regulations
in Europe
- A common policy for the establishment of
heliports and helipads in Europe
