The group of companies comprises a network of specialized knowledge in equipment and modification of aircraft and their operation. Aerodata AG was founded in 1997 in order to better structure the rapidly growing group of companies. It maintains a modern office complex at the Braunschweig Research Airport consisting of buildings for development, production and administration, as well as three spacious aircraft hangars for the operation, maintenance and modification of aircraft.

The company strategy of Aerodata (as a system house in the field of airborne measurement technology) focused on the rapid conversion of innovations from research and development into industrial products. In this way, niche markets which are difficult for large companies to access due to their lack of flexibility could be supplied ahead of the competition

Today the Aerodata group comprises five subsidiaries worldwide and two shareholdings in Thailand and Australia.
