Passengers want ''seat in the cockpit'', AOA

Release Date: 2009-04-17

A seat next to the captain is the number one extra aeroplane passengers would love, the latest research has revealed.

In a study by Skyscanner it was revealed that a place in the cockpit is the most desirable special service, with 16 per cent saying they would happily pay extra for a ticket that allowed them this access.

Being able to log onto the internet was noted by 15 per cent of respondents as their top choice, while being seated away from babies and children was noted by 14 per cent.

Lara Bailey, head of communications for the researcher, explained that safety measures mean that passengers are unlikely to get their wish and be allowed in the cockpit.

She said: "If security regulations allowed, no doubt some airlines would be offering cockpit seats and pilot visits, for a price."

However, while this dream may not become reality, passengers could soon be able to get online while travelling through the air.

Aircell recently revealed that there have been advancements in this field, which means that some carriers are beginning to offer internet access during flights.
