Release Date: 2009-04-23

Air South West is celebrating the start of its services to London City Airport.

The carrier will run flights twice a day to the hub from Plymouth and Newquay, with fares starting at £29.

Peter Davies, managing director for the firm, comments that the routes are "revolutionising air travel between the far south west and the capital".

He adds that the carrier has received backing with regards to the flights from companies in the region.

Mr Davies goes on to say: "London City Airport is entirely geared to the needs of the business traveller and we''re delighted to be offering such a fast and efficient service direct into the capital."

The flights take just over an hour, with more than 5,000 seats being sold since they were announced.

Last month, statistics released by the Civil Aviation Authority showed that London City Airport had seen a 16 per cent in punctuality compared to the previous quarter, with 74 per cent of services leaving on time.
