Eastern Airways honoured, AOA
Release Date: 2009-04-24
Eastern Airways has been recognised as the most punctual performer at Newcastle Airport.
The regional carrier, which provides six routes from the hub, has now picked up the honour three years in a row.
Roger Hage, Eastern Airways'' ground services manager, said that the news represents an "excellent achievement".
He added: "Our passengers are used to on-time flights and high levels of service and it''s our job to maintain consistent high standards to meet their expectations."
Figures from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), which were analysed by flightontime.info, show that Eastern Airways run almost 8,500 services between January and December of last year, with nearly 90 per cent of these leaving within 15 minutes of their scheduled times.
The statistics also found that if there were delays, these averaged at six-and-a-half minutes.
Last month, a study by the CAA showed that, during the first quarter of 2009, punctuality at London City Airport and Heathrow improved when compared to the previous three months.
