ASD supports the conference ‘The Seven Challenges of Civil Aeronautical Construction’, AeroSpace and Defence Industries Association of Europe (ASD)

Release Date: 2010-03-19

The French Air and Space Academy, the European Economic and Social Committee and the European Aviation Club are jointly organising, on Wednesday 31 March 2010 in Brussels, a conference on the ‘Seven Challenges of Civil Aeronautical Construction’
The growth of air transport since mid-20th century has made it possible to meet the travel demands of a newly mobile world: from 1950 to 2000, air traffic (in terms of passenger-kilometres) grew a hundredfold. This extraordinary achievement was largely due to the advent of the subsonic jet aircraft in 1952; half a century later, the product concept remains unchanged, although its performance has considerably improved. In order to satisfy a consistently high demand for transport in the 21st century, European civil aeronautical manufacturers will have to take up the challenges in the following areas: marketing, technology, energy, the environment, industrial, competitive and monetary.

The conference will be animated by Georges Ville, former Deputy Director of the Aircraft Division Aerospatiale, former President of the French Air and Space Academy. It starts at 16:00 in the premises of the European Economic and Social Committee.
