Schiphol wins ACI EUROPE Best Airport Award, Schiphol Group

During the 19th annual congress of ACI Europe, held in Manchester, Amsterdam Airport Schiphol was awarded the 'ACI Europe Best Airport Award'.
The jury awarded the prize to Amsterdam Airport Schiphol in recognition of the way in which the airport maintains its relationship with the local community as part of its CSR policy. Special mention was made of the Alders Platform covenant and the launch of a sound barrier project to reduce noise nuisance near Hoofddorp.
'We are proud to accept this award as a reflection of the great importance we attach to corporate social responsibility. CSR is an integral part of our corporate strategy,' said Ad Rutten, Executive Vice President & COO of Schiphol Group, on accepting the prize.
CO2-neutral
During the conference the ACI launched the 'Airport Carbon Accreditation scheme', a programme that offers insight into the performance of individual airports in terms of CO2 emission reductions. Amsterdam Airport Schiphol participates in this scheme.
Schiphol has been working to reduce her emissions for several years and aim to become fully CO2-neutral by 2012.
