Amsterdam Airport Schiphol named best international airport, Schiphol Group
Release Date: 2009-06-30
Canadian travel agents have voted Amsterdam Airport Schiphol their 'Favourite International Airport 2009'. More than 3,500 Canadian travel agents participated in the vote. This is the fifth successive year that Schiphol has received this distinction in the 'Favourite airport' category since the award's introduction in 2005. The airport owes its high marks to the famous 'one-terminal' concept, its efficient operations and the range of facilities on offer, including shops, restaurants, the XpresSpa, the Babycare Lounge, a casino and the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam Schiphol.
'We are proud that Canadian travel agents have expressed their confidence in our airport for the fifth time in a row', says Director of Aviation Marketing Marcel Lekkerkerk. Amsterdam Airport Schiphol serves Canada's four major cities of Calgary, Montréal, Toronto and Vancouver with daily flights by KLM and Air Transat.
2009 awards
This is not the first award that Amsterdam Airport Schiphol has won this year. Recently it received the 'ACI Europe Best Airport award' in recognition of its high quality standard and, more especially, its approach to building relationships with regional residents.
In April, readers of the Asian cargo industry publication Cargonews Asia voted Amsterdam Airport Schiphol 'Best Airport Europe' for the 16th time and 'Best Air Cargo Terminal Europe' for the 11th time. The awards were based on the high quality of airport cargo facilities and efficient cargo transfer process.
In February Schiphol.nl won first prize in the category 'Best Airport Website' in the 'Webbie Aviation Awards' organised by Flightglobal.com - the joint website maintained by several leading international aviation sector journals.
