Blackpool airport offers escape from gloom, AOA

Release Date: 2009-08-05

Blackpool International Airport can offer UK residents an escape from the poor summer weather with new routes and destinations across Europe, according to an airport official.

Sue Kendrick, customer relations and communications manager at the airport, said that new schemes at the hub, like the free 15-day passenger parking plan, and great facilities have improved the passenger experience.

Ms Kendrick said: "There has been a lot of good news to come out of Blackpool International in the past few months. With routes doing better than last year, we are confident that Blackpool will be on the radar for new opportunities."

The airport stated that most of the routes on offer have performed better than a year ago and facilities at the travel hub have been improved to accommodate the extra passengers.

Blackpool International Airport recently revealed it is to reinstate a route linking the north-west with the Bulgarian city of Bourgas due to popular demand.
