Release Date: 2009-08-13

The German Titanium and Aluminum investment casting specialist TITAL will exhibit for the first time at the MAKS the biggest aerospace exhibition in Russia. The exhibition will take place from August 18th to 23rd near Moscow and is considered to be the leading trade show for the Russian Aerospace market and the markets of the CIS states. According to Philipp Jerusalem, Director of Sales and Marketing at TITAL, the Russian markets have an enormous growth potential and belong to the most important global growth region in the aerospace industry. In only a few years Russia has established itself as a significant platform for the civil as well as the military procurement market of the region. Russia is a place where TITAL wants to expand their position as a supplier of large Titanium parts.

The TITAL foundry located in Bestwig, Germany, is already growing and maintaining contacts with Russian clients. TITAL also participates in the production of the SaM 146 engine which is built in a joint venture between Snecma and JSC NPO Saturn. The engine has been ordered by the aircraft manufacturer Sukhoi for its super jet 100 (SSJ 100) a twin-jet regional commercial aircraft. The aircraft which has been designed as a low wing airplane serves as a substitute for the Tupolew Tu-134 and Jakowlew Jak-42 which are still flying in Russia in large numbers. The project is lead by the Sukhoi company together with numerous occidental partners, including the Italian company Alenia and Boeing.

The international aerospace exhibition MAKS has established itself in recent years as the meeting place of well-known aerospace manufacturers from Western and Eastern Europe as well as Asia. The event takes place at the airport of the flight research institute named after M. M. Gromow in Schukowski. The exhibition takes place every two years alternating with the ILA Berlin Air Show.

TITAL will be represented along with 19 other member companies of the German Aerospace Industries Association (BDLI) in a joint exhibit in hall F 3. Some of the member companies include: EADS, Lufthansa Technik, Rohde & Schwarz, EuroAvionics, ASIS AeroSpace Initiative Saxony and Thales Deutschland
