Release Date: 2009-03-25
The Society of British Aerospace Companies (SBAC), the UK's aerospace, defence and security trade association, has today (Tuesday) welcomed the publication of the second iteration of the Government's Counter Terrorism Strategy (CONTEST 2).
The security supply industry is particularly encouraged by the recognition in greater detail of the contribution that industry has to make in delivering security to the UK and its citizens within CONTEST 2.
Ian Godden, SBAC Chief Executive, said:
"With the publication of its second Counter Terrorism Strategy the Government has signalled that the UK must remain alert to the very serious threat that the country faces. The security supply industry welcomes the document's publication and will play a major role in countering terrorism with its world-class products and through working with the Government.
“As a nation we must not let our guard down and this new document provides a comprehensive assessment of the threat and is a world-leading strategy to counter it.
“The SBAC looks forward to continuing to support the vital work of the Office for Security and Counter Terrorism and other departments involved in national security. We will continue to work through the security alliance called RISC to deliver the industrial capability and advice that the Government needs to deliver CONTEST 2."
