Monarch reveals new route, AOA

Release Date: 2009-04-03

A cut-price carrier has announced a new route running out of Birmingham International Airport.

Monarch is putting on services from the West Midlands travel hub to Cyprus.

The route is available now, with two flights a week heading to Larnaca.

Liz Savage, the airline''s managing director of flights and holidays, commented that the firm is delighted to be able to put on the travel option, adding that there has been "huge demand" for trips to Cyprus from other parts of the UK.

She added: "We have been overwhelmed with how well this new service has been received with over 10,000 advanced bookings already taken and the first flight almost fully booked."

The route will operate each Wednesday and Sunday, with fares starting from £78.99 one-way.

Earlier this week, budget airline bmibaby revealed that it will run flights from Birmingham International, Manchester, Cardiff and East Midlands to the French city of Grenoble.
