Spanish Aerospace Platform

The Seventh Framework Programme of the European Commission defines a wide research and development programme for the period 2007 – 2013. In addition, the Council of the European Union promotes the creation of public – private entities with the name of Technology Platforms as an instrument to generate employment through innovation.

In Spain, the ATECMA Association was fully aware of those messages of the European Union. That led its Council to propose in 2006 the creation of a Technology Platform oriented to the R&D activities applicable to aeronautics and space.

The initiative was immediately proposed to other members who unanimously accepted the challenge.

Once a Secretary General was recruited, the Spanish Aerospace Platform was finally established on 13th November 2006.
