Ruslan International

In July 2006, Antonov Airlines and Volga-Dnepr Airlines announced a new joint marketing venture under the name, Ruslan International.

Following the end of Antonov Airlines' previous marketing arrangement, both airlines decided to streamline their approach to fleet management. Ruslan International became a joint marketing enterprise with the aim of providing the most efficient utilisation of both fleets.

Although both airlines retain their own separate and distinct identities, both decided to evolve their commercial and operational structures in order to achieve the greatest efficiency for their customers.

The cooperation was driven by the need to serve the ad-hoc charter market, as well as existing long-term contracts which required the allocation of a significant portion of both carriers' fleets.

Ruslan International was formed after the successful implementation of 'Ruslan Salis' in February 2006 - a joint project that now provides NATO with a dedicated aircraft from each fleet.

The concept of Ruslan International now allows further efficiency by combining spare parts, loading equipment and the efforts of both airlines to restart production of the An124, thus ensuring the future availability of this unique aircraft.
