East Midlands Airport is adding a route which will enable passengers to enjoy the "real Ireland", it is claimed.

Services from the travel hub to Donegal will begin on July 4th and run on each consecutive Saturday until August 22nd.

The flights will be run by Co-op Holidays and Real Ireland, with consumers able to book week-long breaks to the destination.

Caroline Plant, director of marketing at the Nottingham travel facility, comments: "We are extremely pleased and excited to be able to offer this exclusive new route to Donegal, Ireland, direct from East Midlands Airport."

She added that services to Ireland have proved to be popular in the past and this new route will allow passengers to sample a "variety of tradition and culture".

In related news, Thomas Cook Airlines is introducing flights from Belfast Airport to Sharm el Sheikh in Egypt, with operations running from December 2009 until April 2010.
