新史基浦‘泛亚班拿’货运中心正式启用, Schiphol Group

Release Date: 2009-06-11

The new cargo building for Panalpina at Cargo World Schiphol-Southeast was officially opened this week by Panalpina CEO Monica Ribar and Schiphol Group CEO Jos Nijhuis.

The building, whose construction began on 31 March 2008, was developed by Schiphol Real Estate B.V. and contains approx. 10,000 m2 of commercial space and around 2,000 m2 of office space.

At the opening, Schiphol Senior Vice President of Cargo Enno Osinga stated that the building's completion was an important step in implementing Schiphol's cargo strategy. The cargo building is a fitting addition to the new freight process jointly developed by Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, Customs and the cargo industry.

Panalpina's arrival is an integral step towards realising Schiphol-Southeast's goal of developing into a centre for forwarding agents and logistics service providers. By creating facilities with direct apron access, these companies will be able to take full control of their own air cargo handling activities. Amsterdam Airport Schiphol is a frontrunner in this arena, which only serves to strengthen its position as a European cargo mainport.

Panalpina is the proud pioneer in these developments because they reflect its innovative and progressive outlook, says Panalpina CEO Monika Ribar.
For the physical processing of its air cargo, Panalpina has entered into a partnership with Viggo Service Enablers, formerly known as Eindhoven Handling Cargo. This partnership was set up more than fifteen years ago for physical processing and provision of services at Eindhoven Airport.
The Panalpina cargo building was designed by René van Zuuk Architects in Almere, and was built by Bouwbedrijf De Vries en Verburg in Stolwijk and Burgers Ergon B.V. systems technology in Eindhoven.

Amsterdam Airport Schiphol is the third-largest cargo airport in Europe. 1.57 million tons of cargo was transported via Schiphol in 2008.
