Biodiversity campaign launched by Airbus and National Geographic on 5th June 2009

The General Secretary of the United Nations (UN), Mr. Ban Ki-moon recognized and commended Airbus and the National Geographic Society on the launch of their partnership and their joined forces to support “The Green Wave” project, the UN’s mission in fighting the loss of biological diversity.
On the 5th of June, World Environment Day, Airbus launched together with the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) and the National Geographic Society a world-reaching biodiversity communication campaign, “See the Bigger Picture” (www.seethebiggerpicture.org). The campaign has the aim of supporting and spreading the messages of “The Green Wave”, a multi year global programme, raising awareness on the importance of biodiversity among young people, families and educators worldwide. The campaign comes in the run up to the International Year of Biodiversity in 2010. Released and distributed through the different publications of National Geographic the campaign has a potential reach of 260 million people within over 190 countries.
“I commend Airbus and National Geographic for their support, and I encourage students, parents and teachers to ride The Green Wave and spread the word”, Ban Ki-moon, UN General Secretary said in an official message.
