CAA Philippines is the first non-European State tomaintain all aeronautical information in the European AISDatabase, 欧洲控制(欧洲空中导航安全机构)

Release Date: 2010-07-23

Brussels, Belgium – The Philippines has become the first non-European State to become a full provider/user of the European AIS Database (EAD) – the unique reference database of aeronautical information
EAD is the reference database of quality-assured aeronautical information operated by EUROCONTROL on behalf of the EUROCONTROL Member States. It enables centralised management of digital aeronautical information based on high quality standards hence contributing to safety and efficiency of air transport and supporting the European Network Management function. Full integration into the EAD, means that verified aeronautical data from the Philippines is now available to all data users around the world, and the Philippines CAA also has access to the information provided by other users.

Information in the EAD database is checked against ICAO and EUROCONTROL recommendations, and there is also additional cross-border
data-coherence verification. EAD provides many benefits to users including reduced workload and reduced costs compared to developing and maintaining local systems. Across Europe, there are currently 40 data providers and 150 data users taking advantage of the EAD services. In the rest of the world, 10 more data providers have started to make use of the EAD or plan to use it soon.

“For quite a few years, ICAO has been promoting the need for a more coordinated global approach to aeronautical information systems in order to improve safety,” said Sylviane Wybo, EUROCONTROL’s Head of EAD and AI Bureau. “By expanding the EAD service outside Europe, and providing more countries with quality assured aeronautical information, we believe that we are making a substantial contribution to this objective. We are delighted that CAA Philippines finalised its EAD migration and hope that many more non-European partners will follow soon.”
