阿姆斯特丹史基浦机场5月接待旅客超过50万人次, Schiphol Group

Release Date: 2009-06-22

May 2009 saw nearly 3.9 million passengers travelling to, from or via Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, representing a loss of over a half million passengers compared with May 2008 (11.6%). This decline is partly due to the slight deferment of the May holiday period this year, resulting in a decrease in the number of holiday days in May 2009 compared with May 2008. Current economic developments too are impacting passenger volumes negatively. The number of passengers boarding at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol dropped by more than 140,000 over the entire May holiday period (24 April through 10 May) when compared to the May holidays last year.

The number of passengers boarding at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol was down by over 380,000 (14.0%) for the whole of the month of May, while the number of transfer passengers fell by nearly 130,000 (7.7%).

Air transport movements
May saw 35,264 air transport movements, representing a 10.0% fall compared with May 2008. The number of air transport movements carried out by passenger aircraft fell by 9.3%, while full freighter air transport movements dropped by 28.2%.

Cargo
The cargo volume transported in May was nearly 100,000 tonnes. This represents a fall of more than 32,000 tonnes compared with the volume transported in May 2008 (23.9%). Total cargo tonnage transported by passenger aircraft dropped by nearly 5,000 tonnes (8.8%), and cargo volume transported by full freighters fell by almost 27,000 tonnes (34.7%). Comparison with the average growth figure for the previous four months (28.1%) seems to indicate a slight recovery.

Punctuality
Fewer air transport movements and better weather conditions contributed to higher punctuality scores in May 2009 compared with the same month last year. Punctual arrivals rose by 5.9% to 90.8%. The number flights that departed on time was 84.7%, which represents a rise of 10.3 percentage points.
