Flybe has been named as the biggest UK domestic airline in a recent report by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).
According to the findings, the airline claimed more than a quarter of the domestic market which was three per cent more than its nearest rival easyJet.
Mike Rutter, chief commercial officer at the airline, said: "Just six years ago, Flybe was a distant fifth in the UK domestic market. It''s a mark of how far we''ve come that, in less than a decade, we are now number one a phenomenal achievement."
He added that the company''s ambition has been shown by the fact it has continued with new routes from Gatwick Airport and Leeds-Bradford Airport.
Flybe''s chief commercial officer also thanked all the customers who have used the service in the last few years.
The airline has recently reconnected Leeds-Bradford with London after Flybe announced it is to start a route between Gatwick and the north of England airport.
