Release Date: 2009-07-08
People who live near Gatwick Airport have been invited to a meeting about the facility''s recently-launched proposals to reduce noise pollution.
Members of the public, residents and local interest groups can attend the meeting, which takes place tomorrow at the Gatwick Conference and Business Centre.
Tom Denton, head of corporate responsibility and environmental strategy at the airport, said: "We welcome the thoughts and suggestions from a range of stakeholders to help us ensure we focus on the most appropriate long-term goals for managing noise at Gatwick Airport."
He added that the public sessions will provide an opportunity to share details of the noise action plan and to answer questions.
The proposals will run for a five year period and the meeting will spell out the changes Gatwick Airport intends to take in order to reduce the noise made by takeoffs and landings.
Teachers can now benefit from an agreement between the Association of Teachers and Lectures and Airport Parking and Hotels which means members of the association can receive cheaper parking, hotels and lounges at airports such as Gatwick.
