Release Date: 2009-07-31

A travel company has increased the number of flights it is putting on at Glasgow Airport this summer and will create more than 10,000 new seats in the process.

Teleticket Scotland, which operates from Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Glasgow airports, is the company behind the new traffic which will take passengers to Spain, the Canary Isles, Portugal, Cyprus and Turkey.

Hannah Wheeler, head of sales and marketing at Teleticket Scotland, said: "We are excited about the launch of our first flight of the summer season from Glasgow Airport... all our Scottish flights are looking good – especially considering the economic climate."

The airport''s managing director Amanda McMillan added that the new flights are particularly well timed and show that there is still demand for good-quality, affordable holidays.

People taking the new flight will be able to get new shopping facilities after airport operator BAA recently allowed retail company McArthurGlen to become the first ever outside operator to manage outlets at Glasgow Airport.
